Smart Cover rubs against iPad 2

I hate blemishes and scratches on my electronics, but the Smart Cover rubs against my iPad 2 and leaves metal residue.There is a small wearing of the metal on the Apple Smart Cover where the two hinges meet the connecting rod that runs between them.
